Beth Coldwell should have died. At fourteen years old, she was dying in a hospital bed, when her guardian, Christian Henderson, swept in and turned everything upside down. Years later, she’s alive and well, but she doesn’t know why. Christian did something unthinkable, possibly criminal, to save her life, but what? Beth must pick apart the mystery of why he’s being chased, kidnapped, spied upon, and drugged at every turn. How can she pull down the wall between them so he will welcome her to his world?

I was given the opportunity, no ... the HONOR of reading this book for free in order to write an honest review. It took me all of two days to finish this and I have to tell you .... ONE OF THE BEST READS EVER! I'm not even joking! I'm in tears at the end because it was THAT good! Sci-fi, mystery, a dash of forbidden romance but not really (it's so hard to fully explain without giving anything away). Have you ever immersed yourself so deeply into a book you could actually see what was being written? Hear the characters speak and interact? See the surroundings and feel what they feel? This is one of those books! The introduction hooked me and I wanted to keep going. Every subsequent chapter was a roller coaster ride and just when I thought I figured it all out .... nope! The author threw me for a loop and took me down an alleyway that always came back to the rollercoaster. I was never confused but was just shocked at how my attention was captured by every little detail and nuance. Everything had a purpose. I thought I again figured things out when the author dropped references to Bladerunner and Logan's Run and I almost had it but ... again. Nope. So well written. Beyond entertaining and I promise ... this is something special. Honestly. Not many works grab me like this: especially us fellow independent authors (of yes ... I am one). Read the synopsis. It will hook you like it did for me and take my word for it. Don't think about it. Just get this. Omg! Just WOW! Five stars all the way! I cannot WAIT for the second installment and I want so many people to read this! Buy it. Close the door. Lock yourself away and get lost in this. His 16th Face will not disappoint you. To the author... thank you for the honor of letting me read this. You're amazing. ❤️

First off I need to say that I don't like romance novels. I don't like how sappy the characters can be, and how unbelievable it is to me. I even found that at first I really didn't like the main female at the beginning, but that did change over time. That being said I found that the romance to believability ratio was great in my mind. I liked how relatable the characters are. I have lived in Edmonton, which made an even bigger impact on me as I was able to not just imagine the places, but remember them. You know when a book can evoke not just an image, but a memory--that was His 16th face for me. And once the action portions were introduced I was hooked. I can't wait for the sequel to come out. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone.

Just finished reading His 16th Face and I loved it! It sucked me in right from the intro and I devoured it in a day. I was delighted by the unexpected turns the story kept taking as well as the great writing. I love the witty dialogue and emotional insight into the characters. A really enjoyable read and I can't wait for the sequel!

About the author

Finding a book to read can be hard work.  Stephanie Van Orman thought so.  She could never find anything she wanted to read, so she decided that if the book she wanted hadn't been written yet, then she had to write it.  She started writing novels at age 13 and wrote no fewer than 11 novels before she finally wrote one that was worth reading.  When you pick up a novel written by Stephanie, you aren't picking up a debut novel or a first crack at writing.  You are reading something that has been years in the making.  In 2020, Stephanie celebrates her 25th year writing novels.  She writes romance novels with a twist of fantasy, suspense, perhaps science fiction, but always with that hook of following someone interesting somewhere where you definitely shouldn't go.  Enjoy the page-turning magic that is one of her creations.
