About this ebook

A companion novel to Tithe, from bestselling author Holly Black!

When seventeen-year-old Valerie runs away to New York City, she's trying to escape a life that has utterly betrayed her. Sporting a new identity, she takes up with a gang of squatters who live in the city's labyrinthine subway system.

But there's something eerily beguiling about Val's new friends. And when one talks Val into tracking down the lair of a mysterious creature with whom they are all involved, Val finds herself torn between her newfound affection for an honorable monster and her fear of what her new friends are becoming.

When we got this book, we knew about the drugs & needles... what we didn't know was how detailed it would be. As someone in recovery, it was a bit too graphic & as a result could only read about half of it. Definitely would not recommend to anyone in recovery.

This book kept me reading all day, I didn't put it down until I had finished it. I love the way the author writes, it's like her voice comes through her writing... not an easy task! All in all, I think it's a great book, not just for young adults but anyone who likes 'fantasy mixed with reality' type books. This is a book I would definitely recommend!
