About this ebook

1893 . . . Alice Porterman is released from her duties as a maid and travels home to help her mother care for her sickly brother. But her mother and brother are not in their family home when Alice arrives and she learns the landlord, Albert Donahue, has evicted them into the harsh Boston winter. Alice goes in search of him and is surprised at what she finds.

Albert Donahue, an up-and-coming member of Boston’s elite, made his fortune through hard work and shrewd business deals. But his dreams of a family to share it with have not come true, perhaps until an impertinent young woman enters his home and won’t leave until she speaks to him.

The story was nice and short--not drawn out like most others. The characters were okay, though felt that things were a little rushed (that's usually the case with romance novels). Fun story, good read.

[Basic:girl&boy meet; part; girl&boy reconcile] kernal of good story, sadly-lost, inside "untidy" trash-novel.Hands of skilled writer would've developed it with panache (into a finely- polished glittering gem.)If one can just gamely slog thru poorly constructed syntax, bad grammar, incorrect vernacular, and choppy plot progression, and patchy writing... one can admire a fine hero/heroine duo who deserved far better treatment. ...better than the extraneous trashy scenes which proved distracting.

. Its a wholesome love story that doesnt make want to blush from reading of steamy sexual encounters in the storyline (though well written are great S well. Lol) But sometimes a love story like this one is is perfection all on its self.
