Erstmalig wird durchgängig eine "ganzheitlich-systemtechnische" Behandlung mechatronischer Systeme vorgenommen. Ein Schwerpunkt liegt in der Darstellung von aktuellen Alltags- und Praxisanwendungen von mechatronischen Systemen wie z. B. Fotokamera, CD-Player, Schweißroboter. Auf Grund seines didaktischen Konzepts eignet es sich auch sehr gut für das Selbststudium.
