Trudy Justice was betrayed by a fellow FBI agent and seriously wounded with a gunshot to her gut. Rogen and Thatcher were hiding her until they could figure out who had marked her to be a target. She, Rogen, and Anna had an argument, and Tru took off on a walk before she killed the two women. As she crossed a backyard, Houston Robinson, a tiger shifter, was preparing to shift and take a much-needed run and he heard her ask him to keep his pants on. Then he saw the blood where her wound reopened. Tru did not trust the huge man and would not give her name. But he told her Rogen and Thatcher were aware of her, and Houston mentally contacted him to let him know she was in pain and bleeding. Thatcher came over to treat the bleeding wound. When Houston saw it, he bent in closer and realized this woman was his mate! Hurting bad and suspicious of everyone, Tru was in no mood to listen to anyone, especially a shape shifter claiming to be her mate. But like it or not, the family will take care of her whether she appreciates them or not. And Houston won’t stop until he uncovers the threat to his mate! I really liked the story line, but the formatting of the dialog was poorly done. Sentences came right after each other with no indication of which person was speaking. I was constantly going by context to figure it out, which disrupted what should have been a smooth flow of information. But I liked the characters and the humor. Rather than Tru being “feisty”, however, I thought she was closer to “bitchy” and not someone I liked very much. She was rude to Houston who had just melted my heart with the love and caring he showed to his mom. We know he is a romantic, and Tru shot him down with rudeness. But still, overall, I liked the story itself. And I give points to the author for managing the reader’s emotions so well that it was easy to love or dislike the characters as if they were real and standing right there. Grab your copy and see how things work out for our hero who will try to protect his grouchy mate despite her objections.

Trudy Justice, aka Tru, was an undercover cleanup agent for the FBI. Carrying out an assignment that Thatcher had just finished operating on Tru finds herself shot in the stomach by someone she recognizes. She wakes up to find out her death certificate had been signed and she'll be working and living with Rogan and her family until the originator of the plot is identified. According to his mother, Houston was the sloppiest of all her sons, not even counting the mess of mud he played in, but he was also by far the most romantic. In her defense, she just wants things perfect so when Houston finds his mate everything is ready. Each mate that comes into the Robinson Destruction is more bada$$ than the last one and Tru holds that title now. The storyline is fast-paced, the scenarios are wicked, and the humor is delightful. I can't wait for Beckett's story next.

A very interesting story!! Lots of drama, action and intrigue. I found the story to be more about the kick ass FBI agent Trudy. This story grabs you and makes you keep reading until it's done. Characters are very interesting and well thought out. I just wish that it came with pictures so I could see Houston's art work. It sounds beautiful. I highly recommend this book. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
