How to Cowboy

DNF at 46%. Cade is a former rodeo rider turned farmer. When his ex is killed in a car accident he becomes guardian to his teenage daughter Allie and responsible for her rehab. Taken away from her home, her friends, her school, and the city (and obviously having lost her mother), Allie is lashing out, especially at Cade who has barely been in contact, albeit that was more to do with his ex making it difficult rather than him not caring. Now Cade and Allie are back on the horse rescue ranch where he works and his cousin has hired a physiotherapist to live in and help Allie get mobility back. The physio, Nora, had a catastrophic breakup which tanked her career as well as her love life, a live-in job helping a young girl to walk again, thousands of miles away seems like a great way to lick her wounds in peace. From the moment they meet, Cade and Nora have serious sparkage, but with an injured child with abandonment issues to deal with is there any time for love? I tried with this I really did but honestly ... Cade is fighting an uphill battle to prove to Allie that he does care and that he's in it for the long term, he loves his daughter but he *had* to leave her because of 'reasons' and he carries the guilt to this day (after nearly halfway through I don't know what happened, but I have a strong suspicion). Allie is scared he will walk away just when she's got attached so she attacks him at every opportunity. So Cade (as a mature man) is too stupid to keep it in his pants. Also, he blows hot and cold more often than my hairdryer. And don't get me started on Nora, her entire life went up in flames because she was involved with a doctor at the hospital where she worked. So she thinks it's a good idea to sleep with the client's father? I had to stop, I had swiped past the sex scenes but there was throbbing, wet shirts and every cliché under the sun as far as I can tell, but when Cade sleeps with Nora then shuts her down because of the aforementioned 'reasons' I started to grind my teeth. Sorry, just not my cup of tea and I had to DNF at 46%, I can see how it's going to pan out and it's pretty predictable. This book is steamy in places so a word of warning if you don't care for that but the story is such a tenderhearted tale of redemption and second chances. Be prepared to fall into the spell that is Creedence and the cowboys and the magic that this series has. I can't wait for the next installment! Cade's ex-wife (Amber) and daughter (Allie) are in a car accident and Amber passes away. Cade goes and gets his daughter from the hospital and takes her back to the ranch (farm) where he works with his cousin rescuing animals that have been abandoned, injured or mistreated. Cade hasn't been in touch with his daughter on a regular basis as Amber would be quick to accuse him of his failings and he believes it. Years ago before the split, Cade was watching his daughter when she fell down a short flight of stairs. Allie gets a cut on her forehead that bleeds a lot so he rushes Allie to the hospital. That was all Cade needed to believe Amber. He felt like an unfit father. Nora is a therapist hired to work with Allie to recover from her injuries. She has recently moved back into her mother's basement apartment. She too is feeling like a failure. Her breakup with her surgeon fiancé has left her with nothing but a fancy coffee maker! You can see the immediate spark between Cade and Nora but they tread carefully with the sullen and snarky teenager around. Can Cade and Nora both overcome their different pasts and build something meaningful? Will Cade and Allie repair their broken relationship and forgive past hurts to forge a father-daughter relationship? Will outside forces split this trio up? Well you will have to read for yourself. Again this was such a tender story but full of some great humorous scenes! Characters from the past two stories make multiple appearances here but you don't have to read them to fully understand and enjoy this story. I would highly recommend it though as you will love them like I did.

This one will tug all your heartstrings! The story starts with Cade reconnecting with his teenage daughter as she recovers from a auto accident that killed her mother. Cade has the chance now to get to know her, but she wants nothing to do with him. Luckily, her physical therapist, Nora, has a gentleness about her that Allie can't resist. Nora is coming off an especially bad breakup, so she needs a soft place to land as well. Cade's family ranch is the perfect place for Allie to heal, for Nora to regroup, and for Cade to teach them both how to cowboy. The family ranch is also a horse rescue facility, giving Allie the opportunity to find a kindred soul in one of the recent rescues. Throughout the story, her portrayal is achingly authentic, full of teen angst with an extra large helping of grief and a side of confusion about her conflicting memories about her father. This is a heartwarming tale of how love is the only thing that can truly heal, as all three main characters learn to let go of their hurts and lean on each other as they forge a new family dynamic. I loved seeing the couples from the previous books, as well as other familiar local characters. I love each of these romances, and highly recommend them for anyone who loves contemporary cowboys with lots of heart. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
