Hugh Laurie has written quite a satirical masterpiece that actually harbours a much deeper truth. Satirical, entertaining, well aware of the line it takes, and yet still making quite a strong point! I do hope he chooses to make a movie of this someday.

Hugh Laurie is a remarkable story-teller,hands down.He posseses incredible thespian skills and has an industrious personality.In addition to the aforementioned qualities,is a stupendious music-making ability.As if the above-mentioned proficiencies aren't enough to earn him an Oscar award,he's also a literary genius!Yes,his literature is quite splendid,and this book (The Gun Seller) is pretty indicative of this indisputable fact.I love it!He tells the story quite impressively.If a movie were to made based on the book,I'm quite certain it would earn an Academy award.

The story is hardboiled all right but High Laurie obviously spend too much time with P. G. works. Sometimes it slows the development to almost unbearable level. Good reading if you can get stand all that embellishments
About the author
Hugh Laurie was born in 1959. At Cambridge University he took part in a number of undergraduate revues, the last of which won the Perrier Award at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 1981. Since university he has made his living as a writer, actor, director and musician, appearing in, amongst others, Blackadder, A Bit of Fry & Laurie, Jeeves and Wooster and House. He lives in London with his wife and three children, and is utterly devoted to motorcycling.
