About the author

A Russian novelist, poet, and playwright, and personal friend of Gogold, Dostoevsky and Tolstoy, Turgenev was a key figure in the Russian literary realism movement. His novel "Fathers and Sons" is notable for introducing the character type of 'nihilist' and for its portrayal of the generational schism in Russian society.
