About the author

JANE BRYAN worked as personnel manager and freelance management consultant before joining the Cardiff Business School as a research associate in the Welsh Economy Research Unit. Since 1994 she has pursued several research interests including the performance and economic contribution of small manufacturing firms, regional infrastructure development and devolution issues.

CALVIN JONES holds an MSc in Social Research Methods and is a research associate in the Welsh Economy Research Unit. He was formerly employed in an economic and public policy capacity in South Glamorgan and Cardiff County Councils. His particular research interests include measurement of economic deprivation in local areas and the economic impact of large scale events and infrastructure developments.
