Scientific Knowledge: Causation, Explanation, and Corroboration

A gutting of this book will yield no helpful understanding of it and far more error than insight. This is a book for *serious* scholarship in the fields it addresses. I'm privileged to have studied with Fetzer, collaborated with him on the STUDIES IN COGNITIVE SYSTEMS series with Springer, and to call him an intellectual mentor and personal friend. Don't waste your money and time on this book unless you are prepared to take it seriously, read it diligently several times, and expect to at least consider its intensional realism as a viable philosophy of science, and his related works in semiotics and cognition equally so. It deserves that level of respect and intellectual commitment. Personally, Fetzer's work ranks among the three cornerstones of my Weltanschauung, and SCIENTIFIC KNOWLEDGE is a desperately needed and tragically overlooked magnum opus in its field.
