One autumn night in 1992, young trapeze artist Maria’s circus career is cut short by a career-ending fall. Later investigation reveals sabotage, but by then the ramshackle Southern Cross Circus has folded, and it’s garrulous ring master and owner fled to Spain.

The Circus Lights, #8 - A rather sad story; so many losers. At least, the drinking has stopped but not the desire. Still the bumbler but with Kay and Don's help and the questions, several events are solved. 4* The Man By The Sea, #1 - This book had me immersed in the story lines and so intrigued that I finished the book in one sitting. Good characters and a good pace helped make this an interesting read. 4* The Clockmaker's Secret, #2 - An intense story that kept me glued to the pages. Intriguing story lines, good characters and justice served. 5* The Games Keeper, #3 - Another intense read. You want to put the book down, after you just read the next bit, but then it is the last page. Interesting. Intriguing. Good story lines. 4*

I've read a lot of books written by Jack Benton; he is one of my favorite authors. I can’t wait to read more of his books. This is part of the Slim Hardy Mysteries Series; it is a stand-alone book. The story is about Maria & Slim; after she falls and is injured he’s begin investigating her fall; turns out it was sabotage. I received a free copy of this book via booksprout and I’m voluntarily leaving a review.
