About this ebook

Otto Shenk is the youngest son of a minor baron and a wizard.

Abused by his family and considered less than human by his kingdom, Otto does his best to survive.

But everything changes when Otto stumbles across a tower hidden deep in a dark part of the forest near his home.

A tower that was once the home of an Arcane Lord, the immortal wizards that long ago ruled the world.

Otto’s life will be changed forever.

And so will the world.

Pretty good. I don't really vibe with the main character, but I understand his motivations and the magic system is well written.

I'm glad I ran across this series. It starts off rather predicably for the genre (almost but not quite "you're a wizard Harry" level) and our young protagonist has typical challenges which are overcome. However then it takes a decidedly different turn. Choices are presented which are not so wholesome yet they are realistic and we see characters grow and change in ways that are very unusual for this style of book. And I really enjoy it... we're moving into to full anti-hero territory here. I'm looking forward to where this series goes from here!

This series was enjoyable to read all the way up until the final book. Can't believe it ended the the way it did. Very disappointed that the MC didn't end up getting to achieve his final goal.
