About this ebook

The definitive edition of the classic graphic novel—including never-before-seen material and a new introduction by the author.

When James O’Barr poured the pain and anguish of a personal tragedy into the drawings that comprise The Crow, his intensely cathartic story of Eric—who returns from the dead to avenge his and his fiancée’s murder at the hands of a street gang—resonated with readers around the world. Now, the illustrated tale that became the “thrilling” (Los Angeles Daily News) and “spectacular” (Chicago Tribune) screen triumph is re-released in an expanded version the author originally intended, complete at last with:

—Thirty pages of never-before-seen artwork, including a new closing segment, “Sparklehorse,” and the touching new scene, “An August Noel”
—A new Introduction by James O’Barr
—Lost sequences restored using the artist’s original technique

This is The Crow like you’ve never seen it before—the powerful journey of an avenging angel and a celebration of true love...as fierce, intelligent, and unforgettable as when it was first conceived.

Suggested for mature readers.

I know you are wondering why a four, I gave it a four because if I gave it a five that would be to good of a review and well yes this book was awesome in every aspect but I feel James O’Barr would agree. This book, the 1994 movie saved me so much that it wow'd me and so compelling I want to make a detailed dedicated fan film to prove and show how much and well it means to us the fans. Thank you for reading this review.

Used to have this in paperback. Classic, amazing, and for those who have seen the movie, but NOT yet read this masterpeice, warning! *almost spoiler alert* it is NOT the same as the movie, it's WAY better! (Hey, I'm not knocking it, the movie, of course, is really amazing, and captured the 'essence' and the 'feel', and still is an absolutely astounding cinemagraphic embodyment. BUT, the 'source' material, is even bigger, with different origin of Eric, and a few extra insights into both Eric's charachter, and the 'bad guys' and if you loved the movie, you will definately enjoy this, and most likely, appreciate the film even more. I've had the rare pleasure of meeting James O'Barr himself, in a casual, personal setting, and he is a truly passionate artist, and a wellspoken, inspiring person to talk to. There is SO much colorfully emotive style to not just see, but FEEL as you read it, and it's done with his use of JUST black and white, that every page in The Crow expresses.

It is a haunting and visually stunning graphic novel that explores themes of love, loss, and revenge. O'Barr's artwork is both dark and beautiful, perfectly capturing the gothic atmosphere. The story is a powerful and emotional journey that will stay with you long after you've finished reading.
