About this ebook

Centered on a ruthless family that rivals the Duttons on the hit TV show Yellowstone, the drama of the powerful Calder clan continues to rage in 1909 Montana.

As the countryside explodes in violence, the Calder patriarch has the power to stop the destruction, though some believe Benteen Calder is only stoking the flames for his own gain. One man courageously straddles the divide…

That man is Blake Dollarhide, the ambitious young owner of Blue Moon’s lumber mill. When Blake’s spoiled half-brother takes advantage of the innocent daughter of a homesteading family, Blake steps in as Hanna Anderson’s bridegroom to restore her honor and give her unborn child his name.  But Blake doesn’t count on the storm of feelings he develops for sweet Hanna. When the war between the factions rages anew, everyone wonders if Blake will stand by the close-knit community he serves, or the wife he took in name only…

A marriage of love is more than Hanna ever dreamed of. For her family, surviving the rugged trip west, claiming a parcel of land and planting their first crops on the vast prairie are the only things that matter. Which is why the unexpected passion she feels for her husband is all the more poignant. But even as she longs to trust the strong bond growing between her and Blake, Hanna knows it will take courage and grit to overcome the differences between them. And even greater strength of will to put down roots in this wild new country.

Praise for The Calder Brand series debut

What an epic read. This book should be made into a movie! I loved every minute of it. Hanna was so couragous and kind. Blake was a dear, dear man who came to Hanna's rescue when she had nowhere to turn. He was so protective of her and I had many a tear in my eye as the story unfolded and they finally came together. All the supporting characters were great. The way the story was written drew you into another world and I felt like I was there too.

I loved this book. I remined me of when my Great-Grandmother told of her family's coming to the west. According to what she said this is exactly what happened. Hanna Anderson's family was not wanted and was preyed upon by the range family's. They burned them out or murdered them to get the land back. Blake Dollarhide rescued Hanna many times from perils that she got herself in. Even from his brother Mason. Mason had decided he wanted Hanna for himself, and so he pursued until he got what he wanted then left her by the wayside. Blake steps in the save her family embarrassment by marring her. The Calder's are not the main charters in this story, but they do play a part in deciding eventually, to help what homesteaders (sodbusters) to survive and continue to farm their wheat lands. With Webb Calder stepping up to hope the farmers most of the ranchers decided to help, Is there going to be a sequel to this book. I hope so.

Great follow up to This Calder Range series from 1976 by an excellent author; this 2nd series continues the Calder heritage.
