About this ebook

"Gold!" Jason shouted at the top of his lungs. "Read all about it! Gold discovered in Alaska!"

Within hours of hearing the thrilling news, fifteen-year-old Jason Hawthorn jumps a train for Seattle, stow away on a ship bound for the goldfields, and joins thousands of fellow prospectors attempting the difficult journey to the Klondike. The Dead Horse Trail, the infamous Chilkott Pass, and a five-hundred-mile trip by canoe down the Yukon River lie ahead. With help from a young writer named Jack London, Jason and his dog face moose, bears, and the terrors of a subartic winter in this bone-chilling survival story.

“Extra! Extra! Gold found in Alaska!” Jason shouts. Jason is selling newspapers and the lines are really long. Everybody wants to read about the gold found in Alaska. When there is one newspaper left Jason runs home. That is when Jason decides to go north and try to find gold. Jason is from Seattle. He jumps on a train and heads west to the pacific. The train stops and Jason hops off. Then Jason gets on a ship going to Alaska. Jason gets sick at open of the stops so they let him have a dog. The dog was to make him think about the dog and not his illness. After he got better they let him keep the dog. Jason named the dog King. They get to Alaska Jason is ready to go. Will Jason be able to find gold, or will he fail? I liked the book because it had a lot of adventure. I thought the book fan smooth. The only thing I did not like was that it started off slow, and gradually speeds up. The book is not part of a series. I would recommend this book to people who like advancer. Another author with advancer is Gary Palson.
