Jax was almost home when he got a call from his friend about another 'Mavericks" mission and this time he would lead. He was still tired from the last job which was his first encounter with this group until he heard pirates had taken over a cruise ship. He quickly asked who was going to help and was told it would be Beau (a big man who was a good sharpshooter) and military to follow. They wanted the ship to be boarded quietly at first. Upon boarding Jax found the pirates were looking for a female doctor to take to Dubai to help a young patient who was not responding to treatment. Abigail or Abby, as she was called, didn't know at first the pirates were looking for her but when she found out she was surprised as her expertise was in stem cells so it didn't make sense. When she discovered the pirates would harm people if she stayed hidden or escaped, she refused rescue and came forward. The adventure on the ship was a story of it's own but only the beginning in this case. It went on as Jax and Abby tried to help the sick child, discover why he was not responding to treatment and at the same time trying to solve the puzzle as to who was behind this treachery of lies and deceit. It was convoluted at best and maybe even including Abby's past. Definitely a page turner with very interesting characters that kept me guessing. The epilogue reveals a bit more about Beau and a trip to Alaska that sounds very exciting! Once more, very well done Dale Mayer!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Booksprout and I am voluntarily reviewing it. This was a great addition to the series. These men are at a cross-roads in their life. They are ready to hang up their military careers and move forward but to what? They all receive a call to work a mission. Jax is on his way home from helping Griffin with his mission. He is still at the airport when he gets his call. A cruise ship has been hi-jacked by pirates. They are looking for a doctor. Jax heads to his mission and meets up with Beau. Jax has signed up for one mission with the Mavericks and only one. He and Beau head to Panama where the ship is to rescue Dr. Abigail (Abby) Eleanor. Abby has a harrowing experience. She hides in the duct work of the ship when she hears gun-fire. She is rescued by two totally gorgeous men but refuse to leave the ship as planned while the lives of the other passengers are in danger. What these three go through is one that had me reading long into the night. I figured out the one man behind the evil plot but there was still a twist to the story that I hadn't figured on. I adored the dual POV that this book was written in. There is a lot of action in this series so the attraction between the two main protagonists first starts out in the characters' minds. This story is a sexy story and has a scene that may offend some readers. As such, I can only highly recommend this story for anyone over the age of 18, especially if you love your romance with suspense and intrigue.

This is the third book in the Maverick series and although they are all standalone stories the familiar characters are building. Jax Darrium had been tasked to assist Griffin Thomas in the successful rescue of a small child and her tutor, Jax wanted one shot at leading a mission before he left everything military behind, his chance came sooner than he expected. He was commissioned to rescue a Dr Abigail Dalton from a cruise ship off the Florida coast , pirates had taken over the ship with the instructions to capture Abby, who specialised in cell stem treatment of cancer, and take her to Dubai. Jax met up with his back up, Beau, a giant of a man who Jax knew from his navy Seal days, Griffin was to be in communications for information and anything they may need. Using scuba diving gear they swam to the ship and boarded. They quickly set about taking out the pirates thus reducing the odds. As the story unfolds Abby is required to treat the son of a wealthy Saudi Arabian, the father had been informed by his American doctor that the boy had stomach cancer, the problem being that this same doctor had, years before, stalked, terrorised and beaten Abby unconscious before skipping the country.......could this be a ploy to get Abby back in his clutches ? did the child have cancer (his medical noted didn't uphold this theory ) ?was it Munchhausen syndrome and if so who is causing his illness ? or could it be something more sinister, there were many suspects. Amanda refuses to go to Dubai but agrees to look at the boy if he is flown to England but this means that Dr Benjamin Winberg would be accompanying him, Amanda was terrorised by this thought but put all her trust in Jax and Beau and their MI6 backup. This may be the third book in this series but this riveting story has lost none of its impetus, as with most Dale Mayer books it contains terror, murder, suspense, kidnapping, random shootings, a sociopathic doctor on the loose and of course romance. I loved this book and I can highly recommend it. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
