About this ebook

From New York Times and USAToday Bestselling romance author Jean Brashear

HE SPENT TWENTY YEARS IN PRISON FOR HER TWIN'S MURDER…NOW IS HE THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN SAVE HER?

Days away from release from Attica after serving twenty years to guard a secret, Lucas Walker discovers that he’s news again.

The story once shocked the world: the son of renowned Shakespearean actor Martin Gerard, murdered while defending his twin sister Tansy from assault by Lucas Walker, the juvenile delinquent once taken under the wing of Gerard’s wife Juliette.

Gerard’s triumphant return to the stage after a ten-year absence brings the old case to light. When Tansy is kidnapped, Lucas can’t leave New York as he’d planned, no matter how badly he wants to—not until he lives up to a promise to her dying mother to protect her. Lucas goes after her, risking imprisonment once more to face the person responsible for the night that forever altered all their lives.

Wow! I don't know what you would call this. Romance? Romantic Suspense? Psychology in familial relationships? It started out slowly and picked up speed by chapter three. This book was so not what I expected. It was so much more. Lucas and Tansy's story is interwoven with her sisters, Mona and Kat. Mona and Kat each have their own stories with their significant others. All of the pain, sorrow, confusion, and ugliness go back to a moment in time before Lucas, Tansy, her twin Paris, and her sisters were even born. This book creates a whirlwind of emotions. There is so much going on, it sometimes seems like it is too much, like the emotions might be overwhelming, but they aren't. Mercy is one book I HAD to finish. I didn't want to wait until the next day, so I read until the wee hours of the morning. It was difficult to write this review without giving anything away. This is not like the writer's Texas Heroes series. It seems more intense, a tad darker. I would definitely recommend it. I only wish we could see what happens with Lucas and Tansy after the dust settles. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book.

This was an emotional read for me at times, but it was so worth reading. I absolutely love Lucas and the sacrifice he made for the woman he loves. This book is not just about Tansy and Lucas though. We also learn about Mona and Kat and their lives. I recommend this book to anyone that enjoys a romance that's unlike any other. I received an advance reader copy of this book and this is my voluntary and honest review.

About the author

New York Times and USAToday bestselling Texas romance author of over 40 novels, including the popular TEXAS HEROES series, a five-time RITA finalist and RT BOOKReviews Career Achievement Award winner, Jean Brashear knows a lot about taking crazy chances. A lifelong avid reader, at the age of forty-five with no experience and no training, she decided to see if she could write a book. It was a wild leap that turned her whole life upside down, but she would tell you that though she’s never been more terrified, she’s never felt more exhilarated or more alive. She’s an ardent proponent of not putting off your dreams until that elusive ‘someday’—take that leap now.
