About this ebook

The fourth novel in the Earth's Children series, Jean M. Auel's internationally bestselling epic of life 25,000 years ago when two kinds of human beings, Neanderthal and Cro-Magnon, shared the earth.

Ayla and Jondalar have left the safety of the lands of the Mammoth Hunters and embarked on a seemingly impossible journey across an entire continent.

Their goal is the Cro-Magnon settlement in what is now southern France where Jondalar lived as a young man. Accompanied by the half-tame Wolf, the stallion, Racer, and the mare, Whinney, they are forced to brave both savage enemies and the elemental dangers of weather and terrain in their search for the place that will become Home.

Set 25,000 years in the past, yet utterly relatable today, The Mammoth Hunters is an epic tale of love, identity and the struggle to survive, rich in detail of language, culture, myth and ritual.

Praise for Jean M. Auel

'Beautiful, exciting, imaginative' New York Times

'A major bestseller . . . A remarkable work of imagination' Daily Express

The first three books were such a delight. I remember I read the second book first, which made me purchase the whole series so I can start from the beginning. And I totally loved the first three - they all get 5 stars. This one though is so tedious and monotonous! I've been at it for months. I think it will take me two years to finish😅! I don't want to miss a thing though, so I will finish it. A third of the way through, I'm still wondering what the whole point of it is - couldn't the author squeeze all this into three chapters at most? Though extremely boring, the entire series makes it worth it, I think - so I definitely recommend you buy it as a piece of one of the best book adventures I've ever read! Like I said, I don't want to miss a thing - but this one is very disappointing 😔.

The first three books were so engaging and there for so easy to read, this one no so much, but at around the middle of the book fortunately gets better, if you can manage to get there... (It's taken me a year !!)
