This is an amazing story. The characters are diverse, complex, and so vibrant. I love the different relationships that are in the story. I love the way that the author handles insecurities and dark pasta and how they affect now and relationships. The world that the author created is amazing. My emotions were definitely along for the ride. The plot was intense both with the overall arch and the one driven by the individual house. I absolutely adore this author.

This was the first Jeanine Frost book that I have read. It was a good read, but at times it seemed to just jump from one scene to the next with out any explanation of what happened. At times I found the book funny, Some of the lines are actually hilarious. The sex was just a bit over the top to the point of Give me a breake please... the ceiling, Twilight never had that much untapped energy.. I do wish the book would have ended a little more in depth with Mencheres and Kira. Kinda of left me wanting more. Overall I enjoyed the book. A bit of "Twilight" for adults. Nice vampire with Conscience, don’t hurt the innocent humans, I'm bad for you human girl blah, blah blah.. New vampire able to control her hunger with great inner strength, The only thing missing is a Hot werewolf with glorified abs. But Mencheres seems 100% man, even though ye is the undead. I kind of picture him like Oded Fehr of The Mummy and Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo. But again I did like the book.

Mencheres. Bones' grandsire and co-ruler is old "older than dirt" he says. Radjedef, a law guardian and Mencheres Uncle, is the evil vampire. Both men are steeped in Egyptian history, Royalty. He is tired, his had lived long, too long alone, too long of a fight, till.. Kira appears and puts herself in harms way to save him, a beautiful fragile human, except she is brave fearless and for the first time in hundreds of years he feels something...and so it begins ! There was a lot more sex in this book than in JF's others, but not too much. Vlad makes and appearance and is too funny in a scene with Kira when she is trying to learn something. I love Vlad.
