"He'd found his forever. Twice, as it'd turned out." A reporter and the famous country singer who let her go to chase his dream, while leaving the dream of her behind, make for a wonderful second chance story. I mean, what's not to love? Cash Sutherland was perfect. The country music star who made his dream come true and is now on stage performing for people. He won awards, he's famous everywhere. But he's also heartbroken, and closed-off, because he knows the price he paid to get all of this: he let the one woman in his life he truly loved get away. And that weighs heavy on his heart. Presley (love the name, by the way) was left behind by her boyfriend in college. She never really understood why that happened, or why he broke things off with her. Obviously, she's aware of his country music stardom, and being a reporter for a magazine means she can get close to him again and maybe find out some of the secrets to his fame and more about him, without getting wrapped up in all that is Cash again. Good luck with that! You see, Cash once wrote a song called 'Lightning', and that was the song that catapulted him into the limelight. But no one ever knew who the song was about, or what's the story behind it, if there even is one. And Presley is determined to get to the bottom of it. When they get together, there are sparks flying everywhere. He's been with other people, and so has she, but they've never actually been together until now. And what was before is still there, waiting to be drawn to the surface. I love that Presley breaks down his walls, and I love that Cash wants to put her first. I loved the setting of Cash's lake house and the moments they shared. Their feelings are palpable and I wanted to hit them both on their respective heads, while still rooting for them, of course. A detail was missing for me, and this is my opinion only because it takes nothing away from the book. I would've liked to see more of 'Lightning' to really get inside Cash's heart, and to fully understand the depth of his feelings for Presley. The regret about letting her go, the wish of wanting her back, the pain of chasing one dream while leaving another behind. Theirs is a beautiful, well-written second-chance love story that shows us what's meant to be is really meant to be. I feel maybe they needed to experience life before it brought them together again. Granted, maybe there was time lost in the process, time in which they could've been together, but maybe their time apart was necessary for both of them to understand what really matters. And that lightning sometimes strikes twice.

I'm a big fan of Second Chance Novels, and of Jessica's Lemmon's books so I knew that the combination would be perfection, and I wasn't wrong. Enjoyed it so much and couldn't let it down from start to end. They were college Sweethearts, but after he decided to pursue a career in music, without no much explanation, he left her heartbroken. Many years later she has to meet him again, mostly because their careers and they couldn't deny (even if they tried) the huge spark between them. Love when an author manages to transmit the reader so beautifully all those emotions their characters are experiencing, and for me, Jessica does it every time.

•“Pure.”• This was a great read! As the second book in the Beaumont Bay series, we meet our leads Cash Sutherland, bad boy country music star, and his ex college flame who is also a journalist looking for her story, Presley Cole. The chemistry is an interesting journey between these two as it borders between hot, warm and cold throughout the book. I really enjoyed the sweet moments between them and the way the emotions around the past are handled as well as the present. Something that I did feel could’ve used a little more, was Cash and his inner feelings towards Presley as we get closer to the end. A little more insight into the progression of his feelings would’ve been great because it felt like something was missing in that respect. My favorite aspect of the book, by far, is Presley herself, she’s a take charge, incredibly strong heroine that I loved reading about. Jessica Lemmon staying true to Presley’s character all the way to the end was so satisfying to read and made for such a perfect and unique ending, I read it multiple times with a smile on my face! I look forward to reading more in this series!
