I received a complimentary copy of this book from Booksprout and I am voluntarily reviewing it. While this is the end of a series and some prior characters make appearances, you do not have to read the prior books to enjoy this one. Kai Maddox and his younger brother Dane are cyber security specialists. They co-own Madtec and are based in Deer Springs, TX near Royal. Miranda Dupree is the ex-wife of Buckley Blackwood. After she divorced Buckley, she moved to New York and started her yoga business as well as starred in a reality based show of ex-wives. When Buckley passed, his will stated that his assets were to go to Miranda (until his off-spring are married). The last of the assets is Blackwood Bank. Miranda wants Madtec to take over the cyber-security as several things look off to her. Unfortunately Kai and Miranda were lovers about 10 years ago and he won't take her calls. This book was a quick read. It was also written in my favorite dual POV format. Getting that glimpse into the characters thoughts really help me to identify with them and understand their actions so much better. This is a sexy read but the details are glossed over. That being said though, I would only recommend this for someone over the age of 18.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll probably say it lots more times: I’m a sucker for a second chance. They’re my catnip, my Kryptonite. And I adore every angsty, drama-laden moment because there is little I love more than seeing a pair of star-crossed lovers get another chance to get their happy ever after. Ten years ago, Miranda and Kai were sure their love would last a lifetime, but circumstances stepped in to keep them apart and left them both with a lot of misunderstandings and hurt feelings. Now, fate has brought them back together. Will they take this opportunity to clear the air or will pride and their cherished grudges keep them from straightening everything out? Having not read most of the previous books in this miniseries, I didn’t have a lot of preconceived ideas about the characters when I started. I quickly fell in love with Miranda and Kai and was heavily invested in seeing their reconciliation work. I just would have liked to see a bit more resolution to the chaos her mother had created in their lives. That part of Miranda’s story feels a little unfinished but sometimes the only way to deal with emotional vampires is to quit feeding them. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book through Booksprout.

This author does deliver when looking for a good escape with characters that take over. This one also had a special added attraction that it is a second chance romance too. Miranda and Kai deliver in this one as the characters that take over giving us their story. You began to really want things to go in a good direction with them leaving the past in the past. I do like that things will go in a good direction with working together this time. In the end we are the ones who get the answers to this one.
