About the author
Joe Lovejoy, football correspondent at The Sunday Times for over fifteen years also previously worked as a sports journalist at The Independent and the Mail of Sunday. He has written biographies of George Best, titled Bestie: A Portrait of a Legend, Ryan Giggs and Sven-Goran Eriksson. He also works as a freelance writer.
George Best was a Northern Irish professional football player with a career that spanned over twenty years. Playing with Manchester United, he won the 1968 European Cup. One of the first celebrity footballers, George Best's extravagant, and sometimes controversial, lifestyle never eclipsed his talent on the pitch. He died in 2005.
