About this ebook

Cattle Die.

Kinsfolk Die.

Only the Deeds of Heroes Live On.

Tales from Stolki's Hall is an anthology of short stories set in Norrøngard, the Norse-inspired land of the Thrones & Bones  roleplaying game and the novel Frostborn by Lou Anders.

The stories from Tales from Stolki's Hall range from the humorous to the horrifying, from epic sagas of bold adventure to poignant accounts of quiet desperation. These ten tales from acclaimed writers of the fantastic greatly expand the land of Norrøngard in a book guaranteed to appeal to fans of the Thrones & Bones novels and games, Norse mythology, Scandinavian culture, and well-crafted adult fantasy fiction in general.

Grab your axe, take up your shield, and prepare for adventure!

JONATHAN ANDERS is a linguist, poet, and musician with a fascination for the uncanny and the arcane. He has written scholarly commentaries on the works of Jean de LaFontaine, Richard Wright, and William Blake, and has devised a conlang for Meta. His favorite piece of fiction is Moby Dick, which he contends is a work of High Dark Fantasy. He is in fact currently working on a sequel to Moby Dick set many years in the future on the saltless seas of a far-distant world. In his free time, he can be found free-styling on his electric piano, playing RPGs, and ranting about linguistic prescriptivism.

CHRIS WILLRICH’s short fiction has appeared in Asimov’s, Beneath Ceaseless Skies, Clarkesworld, Fantasy & Science Fiction, Lightspeed, Tales from the Magician’s Skull, and elsewhere. Many of these stories are part of his “Gaunt and Bone” fantasy series, which also includes the novel The Scroll of Years (Pyr, 2013) and its sequels The Silk Map (Pyr, 2014) and The Chart of Tomorrows (Pyr, 2015). He’s also the author of the Pathfinder Tales novel The Dagger of Trust (Paizo, 2014). In “Runefall” Chris was partly inspired by family history. The female lead is named after his wife’s maternal grandmother, and the male lead is named after Chris’ maternal grandfather. Chris’ family is proud of their immigrant connections to China and Norway and they hope their ancestors would look kindly upon this story.
