About this eBook

Autumn was born the seventh child of the seventh child, and what no one else realized, she was also the seventh generation to be born, making her the seventh of seven. That alone brought her a great deal of magic. But her parents mistreated her as a child because she wouldn’t share her magic. After her mother made an attempt on her life, she grew up living with a kind uncle. As a result of the abuse she received from her parents, Autumn was dying from cancer.

Joey Whitfield wasn’t the biological son of Blake and Shadow, but they loved him just the same. Joey was different. He had always been a loner, but a near-death experience as a teenager had granted him powers and abilities so strong even he didn’t understand. It wasn’t safe to be around others. Rather than hurt those he loved the most, Joey had struck out on his own until he could discover exactly who and what he was. Days turned into weeks, and weeks turned into years. Joey couldn’t bring it upon himself to face his family.

Even from afar, Joey knew what Autumn was to him. But he’d been alone for so long, could he trust himself to be around others? He knew he should and could save her, but that would require getting past his comfort zone to do it.

Joey was at a crossroads in his immortal life. It was do or die. He just needed the courage to do what had to be done or risk living an eternity alone.

If you've been following the "Whitfield Rancher" series, then you know Joey was extremely close to Ollie, his adoptive great-grandda. We've also experienced some of the hardships Joey has had to go through as a child and briefly learned about some of the trouble he'd inadvertently experienced as a young man. He's left and come back twice at this point, just to clear his head and put things into perspective. Tanner had previously made a promise to Ollie that before he met the sun he would take care of Joey. When Joey leaves for the third time and Tanner goes to meet him because he knows what Joey's intentions are. Joey has discovered he has plenty of magical powers but doesn't know how much or what he can do but he catches Tanner by surprise, which is quite difficult, and give Tanner a new ability. Eve, Joey's grandmother, had a dream that Tanner would be leaving but would return with a mate and there would be children. Oliver knows not to argue with her because her dreams in the past when she's had them, have been spot on. Enter Autumn. She's just found out she has stomach cancer. Evidently, when her parents tried to kill her with poison, it weakened her immune system making it easier for cancer and now two years later, the doctor told her he thought she had about one month to live. By this time, Joey had been gone two years with Tanner popping in and out and trying to get a handle on his magic. Joey and Autumn's story brought tears and warmed my heart. This was the perfect ending, to a great series.
