Johanna Brankaer provides easy readable translations of the Gospel according to Mary and the Gospel of Judas in the German language. Both translations are accompanied by explicative notes, which deal as well with textual issues as with the theological background of our texts. The single chapters are preceded by short introductions, which deal with the structure of each writing as well as the main characters, especially Jesus, the group of the disciples and the disciples which are set apart: Mary and Judas. The relations between these characters are elucidated in the context of the Gnostic theology of each writing and its relation to the »apostolic« Church.
