Volume 2 of this two-volume work covers Adams's role in the negotiation and signing of the Treaty of Peace with Great Britain as well as his central task in the organization of the government of the newly emerging nation. Also included are Adams's recollections of his election and service as first vice president to George Washington's administration and those of his term as second president of the United States.
