I love fly fishing small streams, and Gierach clearly does to. I would say this book isn't so much a "how to", but more of a "why you might want to". Small stream fly fishing is everything Gierach says it is in this book. If you're a fan of big fish pictures and the "showy" side of fly fishing, then you probably won't like this book. If you're interested in fly fishing as one way of having a personal and intimate outdoor experience, then you might like this book.
