A Hymn Before Battle

OOOhhh, I loved it. O'Neil and Pappas were really the only two well rounded characters, but the story was awesome and paced very well. I didn't want to put it down. I'm a little surprised that the tactics of the Posleen are so two dimensional; they can control the air, but don't take full advantage of it. Their tactics don't seem very sophisticated, but they probably have never had to be considering who they've been fighting. I generally like military fiction, and I like SF. This was a well blended version of the two genres. I kept thinking back to when I read Team Yankee by Harold Coyle for the first time. I got the same type of vibe. It also reminds me of Harry Turtledove's Worldwar series In the Balance in terms of storyline, but I liked this better because of pacing. I can't wait to start the next in the series. After the 1st book one could assume the rest were simply lazy writing if not for the author's Afterwords informing us that they displayed his true beliefs. If you're considering reading the rest of the series I'll provide a summary: Nazi's were just doing their jobs and following orders. If some civillians died in the process, that's just natural selection. Women, no matter how skilled or competent they are, deep down are ruled entirely by emotions and NEED a man in charge to ensure they don't screw up. Latinos are almost universally lazy and stupid. The exceptions just prove this fact to be true. The only Europeans worth anything are those who believe in rule by force (with more examples about how the Nazis are actually good. All Muslims are violent. The few who aren't know deep down that Christianity is better. All Asians care about is money. Catholics have some unusual practices that aren't necessary but deep down all other Christians know Catholics are right.

A+it was a little hard to follow in places and he had to go back but overall it was a well-thought-out story it was a well-thought-out theme and I would imagine in my own mind is that we will be fighting like that one of these days thank you so much for writing it
