Read this way back and just had to buy it when I saw it was on Play Books. That's the kind of impression it made on me. Having finished it, I'm delighted to have made the purchase. Now to the second book :)

Exceptionally well written and captivating book, not just this but the entire trilogy. Have read all 3 several times throughout my life and have every intention of doing so again!!

Jonathon Stroud has a unique and brilliant style of writing from multiple character views, expressing completely different personalities and mannerisms so perfectly that you feel the characters are different people writing the same story from their own perspectives. An excellent read.
About the author
Jonathan Stroud was born in Bedford in 1970. After studying English Literature at York University, he moved to London, where he worked as an editor at a publishing firm. He is the author of the best-selling Bartimaeus series; the much-beloved Lockwood & Co. series (now a major Netflix series) as well as The Notorious Scarlett & Browne; Heroes of the Valley; The Last Seige; The Leap and Buried Fire. He lives in Hertfordshire with his family. He has yet to see a ghost, but is keeping his eyes open.
