Joseph Angus, batista inglês, nasceu em Bolam, a 24 quilômetros ao nordeste de Newcastle, Northumberland, em 16 de janeiro de 1816 e morreu em Hampstead, Londres, em 28 de agosto de 1902. Joseph Angus Estudou no King's College, Londres, em Stepney Baptist College e na universidade de Edimburgo (mestrado em filosofía e letras, 1838), sendo pastor de New Park Street Baptist Church, Southwark, Londres (1838). Publicou The Voluntary System (Londres, 1839); Christ our Life (1853), Christian Churches (1862); Lectures on Future Punishment (1870); Apostolic Missions (1871; nova edição 1892); Six Lectures on Regeneration (1897). Escreveu o comentário sobre Hebreus para o International Commentary on the New Testament de Schaff, NY e Edimburgo (1883). Para a Religious Tract Society preparou Handbooks of the Bible (1854; reescrita parcialmente por Samuel G. Green 1904), English Tongue (1862), English Literature (1865) e Specimens of English Literature (1866; nova edição 1880).
