I was hoping to heck for a modern handbook about jupiter and the current methods of amateur observation. Instead it reads like a book geared up for a forth grader, maybe 3rd - and that's fine but it's not at all what I was looking for . I give it three stars and not 2 because it is a good read, just needs to be better clarified in the description before purchase. I won't be purchasing the other books in this series. Other books by Sheehan are often outstanding reads for the scientific and historian minded adult.

About the author
William Sheehan is a neuroscientist, amateur astronomer, and research fellow of the Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff, Arizona. He is the author of many books, including Planets and Perception, The Planet Mars, and, with Stephen James O’Meara, Mars: The Lure of the Red Planet. Thomas Hockey was born with a Great Red Spot on his arm; humorists might say he was “destined” to study the planet Jupiter. Hockey is professor of astronomy at the University of Northern Iowa. He is the author of six books, including Galileo’s Planet.
