About this eBook

A jilted bride. Her brother’s ex-buddy. An affair would be crazy…right?

Chloe Kingston’s life is exactly how she needs it: safe and stable. Right up until her reliable, low-risk fiancé jilts her on their fairy-tale wedding day. As she works her way through the reception champagne—and wonders where she’s going to live—she stumbles into her brother Linc’s ex-best friend.

If only Beckett Daniels were hideous. But he’s not. He’s everything her erstwhile groom was not. Hot. Sexy. Dangerous. And she’s just buzzed enough to want all that Greek-god gorgeousness to show her the kind of fun she’s been missing.

Beck thrives on calculated risks, but taking advantage of Linc’s little sister isn’t one of them. What he can do is haul her tipsy, tulle-clad, tempting little butt to the bridal suite to sleep it off. Then move her into his spare room—which has the satisfying side effect of driving her brother crazy.

They can’t remain platonic roommates for long. Not when the sexual attraction sizzles out of control. But when tragedy threatens Beck, pain from his past reminds them both that life doesn’t come without risks…and this time, they're gambling with their hearts.

Chloe Kingston might be the little sister to all those Kingston men, but that doesn't mean that they are going to run her life! When Chloe is left at the alter by what she thought was a safe choice fiance, she realizes that she is not even sad. Instead Chloe is going to have fun at her "reception". When a drunk Chloe stumbles upon Beckett Daniels, her brother Linc's ex-best friend, she thinks he is just what she needs! When Linc realizes who Chloe is, he does the honorable thing and just takes her up to her suite to sleep it off. He may also spend the night just make sure she is okay....and maybe he knows that it will piss her brother Linc off! ;) When Chloe realizes that she has no where to live now, Beck offers up his spare room. When Linc forbids it, Chloe happily accepts. Chloe would love nothing more than a fun hookup with Beck, but he is trying to keep his hands to himself. Of course living together only helps their chemistry heat up until they finally both give in. Neither of them expected the connection to be so strong but feel so right. When it looks like these two may actually have found their happy ever after, the past comes crashing in and blowing everything up. It will take a lot of soul searching for these two to find their way back to each other but then they will finally get their happy ending. I just adored Just One Scandal by Carly Phillips. I loved Chloe! She has all these brothers who all think they know what she should be doing but instead they tend to suffocate her. I enjoyed how she finally took charge of her own life to get what she really wanted.....Beck! Now Beck was just super dreamy! He was totally alpha male, but with a conscience. I loved how he treated Chloe....such a gentleman. Overall, this was a great addition to this series and I can't wait for Xander's story next!

JUST ONE SCANDAL is the second instalment in Carly Phillips’ contemporary, adult THE KINGSTON FAMILY erotic, romance series focusing on the Kingston siblings (Linc, Xander, Dash, Chloe and Aurora), a spin-off from the author’s DARE NATION series. This is twenty five year old Chloe Kingston, and thirty-two year old Beckett Daniels’ story line. JUST ONE SCANDAL can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary. Told from dual third person perspectives (Chloe and Beck) JUST ONE SCANDAL follows in the wake of Chloe Kingston’s almost wedding. Dumped just hours before walking down the aisle, Chloe insists on continuing her party with her bridesmaids inviting a group of men they meet at the bar. Enter Beckett Daniels, her brother Linc’s one-time best friend turned nemesis and competition. Aware that the almost -bride is Lincoln Kingston’s little sister, Beckett offers Chloe a place to live, an offer that sees the Kingston family seeing red. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Chloe and Beck, and the fall-out as Beck is unable to let go of the past, pushing our heroine out of his life. Chloe Kingston is an interior designer who is struggling with a direction in life. Having been dumped and humiliated Chloe looks towards a different future, a possible future with her brother’s ex best friend. Beckett Daniels doesn’t do relationships at least not long term, having lost someone close in his life but falling for Chloe means breaking his own rules, rules he refuses to break for anyone including our story line heroine. The relationship between Chloe and Beck is brother’s ex best friend/forbidden relationship. Chloe didn’t want to go home, so Beck offered his place to stay. Roommates that quickly turns into something more, Chloe and Beck are the perfect couple but Beck’s life is about to spiral out of control, and he refuses to lose anyone else including the woman with whom he is falling in love. The $ex scenes are intimate, passionate and intense, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text. There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including Chloe’s siblings: Linc and Jordan, Xander, Dash, Aurora, and their mother Melly; Beckett’s brothers Drew and Tripp, and their parents Kurt and Audrey Daniels. JUST ONE SCANDAL is a story of family and friendships, betrayal and hurt, loss, grief, acceptance and love. The premise is emotional and captivating; the romance is seductive and provocative; the characters are broken, energetic, engaging and dynamic.

***4 Stars*** After finishing Just One Night and finding out that Chloe and Beck, of all people, were going to be the next HEA, I was definitely intrigued, and I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised with how everything turned out. Beck and Chloe. I liked Chloe going into this book but I loved watching her come into her own. She had to deal with some hard truths about her life and where she saw her future and I like how she took a stand for herself and grabbed hold of the future she wanted. Beck was one of those characters that I didn’t necessarily like, but was intrigued enough to see what lay beneath the hostile exterior. And though it did take a while for me to come to, I ended up really liking the heart of the man that lay beneath it. Their journey to their HEA was definitely a character driven, character building one. They definitely met under the most inauspicious of times, but I liked how comfortable they were with each other from the get go and all that mattered was that they were Chloe and Beck and none of the outside and past issues mattered. Their bantering was a lot of fun, the chemistry between them was hawt and I really liked how everything worked out for them in the end. I have to admit that while I was interested to see just how Chloe and Beck would get their HEA, there was a big part of me that wanted to see how the whole Linc/Beck situation would play out, and I have to say I like how that all worked itself out. But I really liked getting to spend more time with Xander, Dash and Aurora, as well as meeting Beck’s family, and am looking forward to seeing what’s in store for Xander. ~ Copy provided by the author & voluntarily reviewed ~
