This is a series of stories based on the idea that the police force and the scientist work together to investigate the crimes. Each story is different, each has a different set up, yet all the stories are related to Amritrao and Kaushik. The salient feature of these stories is the solutions for all the puzzles with the help of science and technology. All the stories succeed in creating a suspense, the crimes resulting into some tension, doubt, the sceptical environment that comes along with it, each making us think 'what next?' Even though serious by nature these stories have a wonderful blend of humour when Amritrao and Kaushik are around. These two though are Dr. Bal Phondke's creation and are basically police, they are shown to be very sensitive in nature, no wonder the readers find them close too. पोलीस आणि वैज्ञानिक यांनी एकमेकांच्या सहकार्यातून लावलेला गुन्ह्यांचा शोध ही मध्यवर्ती कल्पना मनात ठेवून लिहिलेली मालिका म्हणजेच हा कथासंग्रह. प्रत्येक कथा वेगळी, तिचं सूत्र वेगळं; तरीही या सर्व कथांना जोडणारा समान दुवा म्हणजे अमृतराव आणि कौशिक.‘वैज्ञानिक तंत्रज्ञानाच्या आधारे उलगडत जाणारी कोडी’ हे या कथांचे खास वैशिष्ट्य! कथेत घडणारे गुन्हे, खून, त्यामुळे निर्माण होणारे गूढ, रहस्यमय वातावरण यातून पुढे काय होणार? ही उत्कंठा तगवून ठेवण्यात सर्वच कथा यशस्वी ठरतात. गंभीर विषय असूनदेखील कौशिक आणि अमृतरावांची मिष्कील जुगलबंदी चांगलीच रंगते. डॉ. बाळ फोंडके यांचे हे मानसपुत्र केवळ पोलीस न ठरता दोन संवेदनाशील व्याqक्तमत्त्वे म्हणूनही वाचकाला जवळची वाटू लागतात, हे या कथासंग्रहाचे खरे यश!
