The writing and pace are okay, the basic plot is good, but the details, or lack there of, kill it. No way a male relative would not have forced residence for proper chaperonage! No way the runner hired would not have ensured she never went out unguarded, even if following discreetly. The author has a duke and duchess in a castle without footmen, housekeeper, butler, or valet fetching wash basins and clothes with only his steward to assist him (who also fetches his horse once, calls for it another time)....a little more detail to carry out the story and a bit more research would put this author on par with Jo Beverly. I look forward to seeing the improvements with practice!

A bit overdone, it stretches believability. A lady by day, a hack driver by night searching for her father's killers. A duke becomes swept into the intrigue, falling in love with the determined beauty that tries to dissuade him.

This story had me intrigued from the start till the end. I read it straight through the night. The hero Devin is my all time favorite heros of this genre, no on could get to his standard. His raw pain and vulnerability shines through with every action he takes. His selflessness with Aggie and the way he tries to be whole and playful despite his inner hurt shows true strength. He doesn't just lust after her, but finds a true friend and companion.
