About this ebook

THE #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

Once a week, an eclectic group of women comes together at a New York City yarn shop to work on their latest projects—and share the stories of their lives...

At the center of Walker and Daughter is the shop’s owner, Georgia, who is overwhelmed with juggling the store and single-handedly raising her teenage daughter. Happy to escape the demands of her life, she looks forward to her Friday Night Knitting Club, where she and her friends—Anita, Peri, Darwin, Lucie, and KC—exchange knitting tips, jokes, and their deepest secrets. But when the man who once broke Georgia’s heart suddenly shows up, demanding a role in their daughter’s life, her world is shattered.

Luckily, Georgia’s friends are there for encouragement, sharing their own tales of intimacy, heartbreak, and miracle-making. And when the unthinkable happens, these women will discover that what they’ve created isn’t just a knitting club: it’s a sisterhood.

I could not even finish reading this book. It was interesting at first. I thought it would be more about her talking about her life, her daughter, her yarn shop and all the women she meets for the Friday Night Knitting Club. No. It ends all about her ex boyfriend/baby daddy. All about how she wonders what he thinks about her, should she hate him, always just talking/thinking about him. It was so annoying.

I'm new to the world of knitting (about 3 years now) and it was a joy to read about how other women were drawn together through this craft. Kate Jacobs author really gets into the lives of the various women; their situations in life and the path to which their companionship developed. The more I read the more I was convinced that solidarity rang true in this knitting club. I won't elaborate on the ending, except to say that it fit the story. Still the book in my opinion was an enjoyable read and I would gladly recommend it to my friends, especially to those in my little knitting circle.

This is one of my favorite books that I always recommend when someone is looking for something "new". The relationships these characters develop among themselves is warm, funny, and very realistic. This is one of those books I don't want to end as I got so caught up in each of these women and their joys and problems. Please read this book! The sequel is not as good but it is wonderful too!
