About this ebook

Jamie Darkhouse had inherited the large historical house when her parents had died. She had always hated living there and joined the Army to get away from the house and her parents. But when her parents died, she had things to take care of. So returning home seemed her best option. With the others gone, the house had lost the oppressive feeling, and she was now happy being home.

Jamie and Pem were good friends, and the Mannings were more than ready to accept Jamie into the family even if she hadn’t been Milo’s mate.

Milo Manning wasn’t a dragon shifter like four of his brothers. Yet, he wasn’t entirely human either. Immortal and magical, he still fit right in with the rest of his shifter brothers and large extended family. The Mannings were a large and well-respected family.

It only took moments for Milo to confirm they were mates, and Milo moved into the old house with her. Each discovering the new magic that came to them daily. What came to them as a shock, though, had Milo’s mother, Cindi, rolling with laughter. Neither Milo nor Jamie found seeing and talking to the dead the least bit funny.

'Milo' is Kathi S. Barton's third book in her "Xavier's Hatchlings" series. Let me just say, I love the way her prologue gives the beginning history of dragons and how it ultimately affected this line. Of course, the Manning family is the line we are following, along with those people who have come in contact with them. At the beginning of the story, we learn that even though Milo has only been away for a few days, and is met at the airport by two of his brothers who intend to celebrate his homecoming. What they find instead, is an exhausted Milo who only wants to go home and can't stay awake in the vehicle. Rather than taking him home, they swing by Jamie's house, Milo's best friend, with the thought that if she were his mate, then she would know what was wrong with him. It turned out, Milo had been given iron, not enough to kill him, but enough to incapacitate. At this point, we still don't know if Jamie and Milo are mates. Once again, Ms. Barton has woven a storyline that kept me entranced with this family, the unexpected ghosts that appear, and a new job that produced a boon. I can't wait to see where she takes us next with 'George'.
