Oh, my, every time I finish one of Ms Reus’s books/audiobooks, I tell myself it was the best. Now I stand corrected, this one IS the best. The story is definitely a stand alone, though Levi Lazaro made an appearance in a previous story. Levi was an NSA Special Agent working in a very secret division of the department. When his wife was murdered , he left and now his only goal in life is revenge for her death. Selene Wolfe, is also a Special Agent, who is a wiz on computers and deadly with a weapon . They form an alliance. One of them realizes that her heart might be in danger, and the other feels he is betraying his deceased wife when feelings for another woman shake his existence. The story will definitely keep you on the edge of your seat. The danger of a deadly virus being spread, the scientist assigned to develop the virus and an antidote, the evil planner of this horrific plot, the murderers of Levi’s wife and let’s not forget the surprises the author has in store for the reader/listener will keep you on your toes. I love that Ms Reus, gives us men and women that are strong but also very real and imperfect. Life is not black and white but rather many shades of gray. Makes you wonder what would you do if put in a position of not only danger, but of how you deal with the murder of a loved one and if you can ever get over that death and live again a fruitful life. Will Levi and Selene find closure and love in the end? Truly a story worth your time , and one you will remember for a long time. Last but definitely not least, the narrator of the audiobook, Sophie Eastlake, does and excellent job with the narration and the various voices I was gifted this audiobook. I wondered how Katie Reus would handle Levi 's story....and I wasn't disappointed. I liked Selena character immediately and she and Levi played off each other wonderfully. Tense, intriguing, scary, just a little, this story just keep pulling you along with it....Loved it
