Diese Aufsatzsammlung zu Ehren des Historikers und Theologen Wolfram Kinzig widmet sich der Kirchengeschichte. Überlegungen zu dieser Disziplin betreffen einerseits die komplexe Beziehung von Theologie und Geschichte, welche die Fragen nach dem Verhältnis von Offenbarung und Geschichte, "kirchlicher" und "profaner" Historiographie sowie die Frage nach dem Stellenwert der Kirchengeschichte innerhalb der Theologie umfasst. Andererseits schließen Überlegungen zur Kirchengeschichte die Auseinandersetzung mit gegenwärtigen Herausforderungen für dieses Fach mit ein. Die Autorinnen und Autoren des Bandes sind den aufgeworfenen Fragen jeweils aus der Perspektive ihres Fachbereiches nachgegangen und bereichern auf diese Weise nicht nur die Forschung an der Schnittstelle von Theologie und Geschichte, sondern auch die Diskussion um das Proprium der Kirchengeschichte. [Church History. Is it Part of History or Part of Theology?] This volume in honour of the historian and theologian Wolfram Kinzig deals with "Church History". Deliberations on this subject concern the complex relationship between theology and history, namely the connection between revelation and history, the difference between "ecclesiastical" and "secular" historiographies, and the question of the relevance of Church History to theology. Furthermore, considerations of Church History include discussions on contemporary challenges and opportunities for the subject within the academe. The authors of this volume have each considered the aspect of Church History most relevant to their own research and/or discipline and thus further both, research at the interface of history and theology, and debate on the peculiarity of Church History.
