Variations- und Textlinguistik erfassen verschiedene Aspekte sprachlicher Vielfalt, für die mit spezischen Schwerpunkten, Methoden und Zielsetzungen Korrelationen und Erklärungen gesucht werden. Der vorliegende Band nimmt insbesondere die Schnittstellen der beiden Disziplinen in den Blick und erkundet dabei den heterogenen Charakter natürlicher Sprachen sowie die damit einhergehende Fülle von Realisierungs- und Umsetzungsmöglichkeiten. Im Einzelnen geht es um dialektale, historische und stilistische Variation in den unterschiedlichsten Kommunikationsbereichen wie Verwaltung, Medizin, Wirtschaft oder Literatur, Presse und Schule. Dafür werden schriftliche, mündliche und digitale Korpora ausgewertet. Die für die Beiträge zentrale Textvariation bzw. Variation im Text betrifft sowohl makrostrukturelle als auch lexikalische und grammatische Phänomene.
