Kate Devereaux’s summer just hit a detour. A great-grandmother she didn’t even realize existed sent her a letter inviting her to visit the Crescent City before she went off to NYU. What Boston girl wouldn’t want to visit New Orleans?

Now she’s at Overlook with her cousin Magda, who’s quick to warn her away from a necromancer student named Lucas Grey. Except Lucas seems to have the answers to the strange happenings which seem to follow Kate around.

Not to mention, Lucas is hot. So, what’s Kate to do when Lucas tells her that the answers to her questions lie in the Underworld? And that together they can create a portal to take them there.
