Komik Koel berkisah seputar kehidupan sekolahan, cinta, pekerjaan, plus bumbu filosofis. Koel lahir dari ide-ide seputar kehidupan yang begitu dekat dengan siapa saja. Di bagian akhir komik, Kurnia menutup proses di balik layar pembuatan komik. Dari mendapatkan ide, menurunkan jadi naskah, merancang panel, sketsa pensil, penintaan, hingga jadi komik.
Selain hadir dalam bentuk komik strip, Koel juga digerakan dalam bentuk animasi. Sudah banyak penghargaan yang ia terima, dari pemenang Festival Film Animasi 2008 kategori animasi naratif hingga film pendek pada Kontes Konsumen 2009.
