Other than the second last chapter seeming a bit confusing , altogether it was a good read . It did of course bring out some memories of ones own parents who have passed away . Appreciate your parents while you can ! Memorable read .

The writing of family and the inividuals that make a family are carefully constructed to reveal each character and the role of Mother. The reader is led on a journey that starts out with You and draws you deeper into the family and their search for their missing mother. Among the most important aspects of this novel are concepts of sacrifice, missing persons, choices people make in life and reflection of the past present and future. It is amazing how we recall memories of the same person in different ways based on our experiences and because the author has included You from the beginning of the story, you might easily find yourself recalling memories of conversations and incidents you had within your own family. In conclusion, Please look after Mother is a book that gives readers an opportunity to look deeper at relationships that on the surface seem in order, pleads with you to please look after Mother and may be an emotional read for some.

Kyung-sook Shin is the author of 6 novels in addition to Please Look After Mother, which will be published in 19 countries, and has sold almost 1.5 million copies in South Korea alone. She is one of the country's most widely read and acclaimed novelists, having won the Manhae Grand Prize for Literature, the Dong-in Literature Prize, and the Isang Literary Prize, as well as France's Prix de l'Inaperçu. She lives in Seoul and in New York.
