I've read the book. And I have to say that Elena doesn't have an attitude problem.;she has a boyfriend problem. Problem is, while she's used to getting want she wants...this time, she's confused on WHICH boy she desires. And which boy whom she wants, isn't like all the other boys in her school. THIS boy doesn't seem like he's like any other boy Elena has had. THIS boy doesn't seem human. Then there's the OTHER one. And that's where the mayhem starts. Things get quite interesting as the plot goes on. It's unfair to judge the way the fictional characters are, not because of the way the books are written. And how well this author portrays them. I guess we'll see on the second one where The Vampire Diaries takes off. In this first one,Elena isn't a vampire yet;yet, she becomes influenced by one...then two of them. The trilogy continues. What will happen to Elena in the end? Is some unnaturally, supernatural force guiding her on the wrong path? Keep reading. Stay tuned.

This book is very well writen. Some may not like Elena's atitude (I don't like the way elena acts, she is selfish and seems self centered) at all but i am one that likes a good well written story, but then if you think about it elena is very populer (not that all populer girls are rude, but some are) so i guess it depends on the readers own experiances in terms of relating the charecters to your world. I will admit like most others i was brought here by the television show but this book is very different from the show but still worth the read i think.
