Quello presentato qui è un documento che viene dall'interno di un'esperienza calda, la battaglia contro i manicomi combattuta da Franco Basaglia, prima a Gorizia e poi a Trieste. Un documento che riporta alla fine degli anni Settanta con un consuntivo spregiudicato a più voci. Un documento che sembra lontano, ma che è straordinariamente vicino a noi. Nella casa di Venezia di Franco Basaglia si svolgono ore di animata conversazione. Con Franco Basaglia ci sono Agostino Pirella, un altro dei principali protagonisti di quella stagione, Franca Ongaro Basaglia, intellettuale e politica, coautrice con Basaglia stesso di molti testi, e un giornalista, Salvatore Taverna, che conosce bene il problema del disagio psichico.
