Yi-fu Tuan was born in Tientsin, China, in 1930. He is a professor of geography at the University of Minnesota, and has been a visiting professor at Oxford University, the University of Hawaii, and the University of California at Davis. He has written for numerous magazines and received many awards in his field. His two most recent books are Topophilia and Space and Place.
