Get your tissues ready because you're gonna need them with Dalton's addition to the Heaven Hill shorts. Each character's story has been emotional for one reason or another, but Dalton's absolutely broke my heart. He and Mandy were hit with a double whammy, and they've suffered a terrible loss. Mandy frustrated me a bit with her actions, but everyone handles loss differently, so frustrated or not, I could still empathize with her. I do hope that Laramie Briscoe has Mandy's story planned because I can't wait to get my hands on it. I'm loving all of these Heaven Hill shorts, and I'm itching to see where it's all headed. I would caution heeding the warning in the blurb. If you haven't read Heaven Hill Generations, I would strongly advise it before diving in to these short stories.

In this short we another victim of that awful time in the club. Everyone is dealing with Travis's betrayal but there's something to look forward to since Mandy and Dalton are pregnant. Then the unimaginable happens Mandy loses the baby and in her grief pushes Dalton away. This short shows us the pain that Dalton is in and how he loves his wife and son ans wants his family back. He wants to help Mandy but doesn't know how, he thought he was helping by leaving and giving her space that she asked for. This book shows you how raw the grief is and how different it is for Dalton and Mandy. I really hope that we get more of their story in the future. I was given an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion of this book

I was excited to read this book and knew it would pull at my heartstrings. Dalton will devastate you emotionally but have you hoping things will get better. He just wants his family back and will do whatever it takes to make that happen. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
