About this ebook

Destiny, duty, and desire clash in this epic new novel in J.R. Ward’s #1 New York Times bestselling Black Dagger Brotherhood series.

Lassiter, the fallen angel, is too good at the savior business. In his new role overseeing the fates of all vampires, he’s influenced outcomes he shouldn’t have—so the Creator is calling him home. But the angel has a reason to stay in Caldwell. He’s bonded with a mysterious female who seemed to appear from out of nowhere...and has powers that defy all reason.

Rahvyn is well aware that she doesn’t belong in the present. And she never intended to stay, for her true place is in the past. Lassiter proves to be undeniable, however, and she lets herself fall for the angel—until a secret he’s been keeping comes out and she fears that for him, it’s not about love, but duty.

As the Omega’s son reestablishes the Lessening Society, and the Brotherhood must resume the deadly war, an unfathomable tragedy occurs. In the aftermath, Rahvyn has to decide whether to stay and help—or save herself from an immortal heartbreak she knows will crush her very soul...

I'm going to have to stop reading these books. They are now so disjointed and full of too many characters that the actual story of each one fails because it's rushed and just sprinkled into the rest of the gibberish. What used to be a unique style of metaphor is now way overused and over blown, to the point of no longer recognizable as any way a person would communicate, even within themselves. On top of that, half the characters are annoying or hateful, or both. There is no payoff. I can't fall in love with characters I never get to know and who do stupid things as a device to push the story along. Sad.

3.75stars-LASSITER is the twenty-first instalment in JR Ward’s contemporary, adult BLACKDAGGER BROTHERHOOD paranormal/fantasy romance series. This is fallen angel/ Scribe Virgin Lassiter, and Rahvyn’s story line. LASSITER is a detailed and complex story of power and control, betrayal and vengeance, acceptance and love, secrets and lies. The premise is impassioned; the characters are numerous, animated and brooding; the romance is seductive but struggles in the face of secrets and the unknown.

I was disappointed with this one. I found it quit boring and hard to read until the last 10 chapters or so. At that point, it's action packed but seemed rushed. Also, very confused by Rahvyn's actions near the end. Despite her explanation and feeling like she was doing the right thing, there were better options for solutions with potential for a better outcome for the entire race. I hope she is punished to an appropriate extent in the next book. That being said, Lassiter is another milestone in a 21 book journey (not counting the spinoffs of course) I am happy to be part of. Even though I can't say it's one of my favorites, I am grateful for this latest installment and looking forward to the next ❤️
