A forbidden love. Katie is a dog ward holder. Brew is a tea witch and her brother’s best friend. They are members of two of the four families in charge of Purple Oak. The power balance must be maintained and relationships between the families is discouraged, but the heart knows what the heart wants. This is a sweet friends-to-lovers paranormal romance. Brew and Katie make a good couple. The story lays the foundation for several secondary characters to feature in their own romances.

From what I understand from the author’s note this is a reworking of the original Purple Oasis series. This time there’s no apocalypse that drives the series development. I kinda think that it made more sense before. I get why there’s all these splintered factions and separate groups banded together when they’re trying to survive the aftermath of the apocalypse but now I’m not sure I understand the background as to why people are splintered into these different communes. I'm voluntarily leaving a review after receiving a free copy. I liked this expanded story and how Katie and Brew finally tell each other how they feel. I hope their families will accept their love. The way they govern things is nice.
