It's been a long time since I stayed up late to read a book straight through, but The Poison Thread made it absolutely necessary. This story was like walking up a twisting, dark staircase with only a flickering candle to light your way. You know something horrible is up there, maybe around the next turn. Still, when it finally jumps out, the reality of the evil is worse than anything you can imagine.
About the author
Laura Purcell is the author of The Silent Companions. She worked in local government, the financial industry and a bookshop before becoming a full-time writer. She lives in Colchester, the oldest recorded town in England, with her husband and pet guinea pigs. Fascinated by the darker side of royal history, Laura has also written two historical fiction novels about the Hanoverian dynasty.
