The book in its bulk was very much the same style we've come to expect of the Anita Blake series, but towards the end it really seems like Hamilton just gave up on trying apply her regular style to the ending. It was wrapped for too quickly and cleanly for one of her signature tales...

Anita and edward together again. I really thought we might be getting another obsidian butterfly. It starts out really good. But about half way through Anita starts obsessing with herself. Waaayyyy too much introspection. Anita we need more action. Less why every guy on the planet wants you.

I've read all Anita Blake novels. All but the last 5 were... Well you know... The best. They were hot and sexy, i never wanted to put them down. But as the series was coming to the end its like laurel k Hamilton gave up. What happened to the knock out, blood and gore, leaving you wanting the next book? I was so disappointed with the last few books starting with Flirt. I read Hit List and once again disappointment.
